At Fearless Girls Club, we are all about empowering girls to feel bold, capable and confident. At our weekly club sessions, we build our games and activities around the framework of our unique Confidence Quests – nine core areas identified through research as crucial for girls aged 8 to 11 years to develop strong self-confidence and resilience. Here’s what they are and why they matter:
1. Knowing Myself: Self-awareness is foundational to confidence. In this Quest area, girls dive into discovering their unique strengths, values and personalities. They learn to find, use and trust their voices, building a sense of self that anchors them through life’s ups and downs.
2. Critical Thinking: We empower girls to think independently and challenge the status quo with respect. They explore ways to recognise and resist peer pressure and learn to voice their opinions thoughtfully. This Quest area encourages girls to engage with the world critically and thoughtfully, preparing them for complex situations with clarity and confidence.
3. Citizenship: In this Quest area, girls explore compassion and what they care about deeply. They learn about their place within their communities and the wider world, building a sense of purpose and connection. Through activities centered on empathy and understanding, they find ways to contribute positively to society, fostering both confidence and compassion.
4. Healthy Mind and Body: Understanding and taking care of both mind and body are crucial parts of self-confidence. This Quest area helps girls learn about their bodies and brains, encouraging a positive body image and teaching techniques to manage big emotions. They gain a strong foundation for lifelong mental and physical wellness.
5. Resilience: Learning to bounce back from setbacks is a powerful skill. Here, girls practice coping techniques, embrace failure as a growth opportunity and cultivate optimism. This Quest area fosters a growth mindset, teaching them that challenges are part of learning and that resilience is key to achieving our goals.
6. Creativity: Creative outlets offer girls new ways to express themselves and tackle problems. In this Quest area, they explore different forms of creative expression to process emotions and communicate ideas.
7. Friendships: Navigating relationships can be tricky, but it’s a big part of growing up. In this Quest area, girls learn about empathy, acceptance and healthy conflict resolution. They develop skills for building meaningful friendships and relating to others with compassion, helping them to create lasting connections.
8. Communication: Communication skills are essential for self-advocacy and leadership. This Quest area teaches girls to speak confidently in public, understand personality types, and cope with different classroom settings. They gain tools for expressing themselves effectively, setting them up for success in many areas of life.
9. Digital World: In today’s connected world, digital literacy is crucial. Girls learn to navigate online spaces safely, covering internet safety, messaging platforms, social media and even AI. This Quest area provides a foundation for responsible digital engagement, helping them feel confident and secure online – and able to say no when they need to.
We’ve created the club we always wanted to join when we were younger – somewhere to make friends, ask questions, explore new things and learn about ourselves through fun and exciting activities.
