At Fearless Girls Club, we believe girlhood should be a place where confidence can take root, curiosity is encouraged and girls feel able to take up space. Our award-winning after-school clubs are designed to do exactly that. They give girls aged 8–12 a regular, supportive place to explore who they are and who they are becoming, away from academic pressure and constant comparison.
After-school clubs matter. For many girls, the hours after the school day ends are when self-doubt creeps in. It is also when friendships can feel complicated and emotions run high. Research consistently shows that girls’ confidence and self-belief begin to dip during late childhood, well before adolescence. Girls-only spaces that focus on social and emotional development have been shown to protect against this drop, helping girls build self-efficacy, communication skills and a stronger sense of agency.
Our after-school clubs for girls create a different kind of space. One that is calm, fun and intentional. A space where girls can breathe, connect and practise being themselves through meaningful after-school activities.
Each Fearless Girls Club session blends creativity, discussion and movement, but at the heart of every session is a Club Quest. Club Quests are themed, story-led challenges that guide girls through big ideas in an accessible way. One week they might be exploring leadership, another resilience, identity or the digital world. This structure matters. Studies of girls’ clubs and empowerment programmes show that clear, consistent frameworks help girls feel safe enough to participate, especially those who might otherwise stay quiet in mixed-gender settings.
We focus on confidence, resilience, self-worth and identity in ways that feel grounded and age-appropriate. Nothing is preachy or rushed. Girls are encouraged to have a go, change their minds and support one another. Trusted and experienced adults hold boundaries while giving girls space to speak, reflect and experiment. Research into girls-only groups highlights that this balance of structure and autonomy is key to improving wellbeing, emotional regulation and social confidence.
The social side of our after-school clubs is just as important as the activities themselves. Many girls join feeling unsure or on the edges of friendship groups and leave with stronger connections and a real sense of belonging. Evidence from community-based girls’ programmes shows that these relationships play a major role in positive outcomes, helping girls feel less isolated and more confident expressing their views.
Girls-only environments have also been linked to greater willingness to lead and speak up. Studies comparing single-sex and mixed settings suggest that girls are more likely to take on leadership roles and try new things when they are not managing social expectations or gendered stereotypes at the same time. We see this week after week in our clubs, as girls who once hung back begin to trust their voice.
For families who want to extend this experience into the home, our monthly subscription boxes bring Fearless Girls Club straight to your door. Each box mirrors the themes of our Club Quests and is packed with thoughtful activities designed to spark curiosity, independence and conversation. Research into structured life-skills programmes shows that repeating messages across different settings helps reinforce learning and confidence. Our boxes allow girls to revisit ideas in their own time, building pride and ownership along the way.
Whether through our award-winning after-school clubs or our subscription boxes, our goal is the same. To help girls thrive now, as well as prepare them for later. Thriving looks like confidence without arrogance, resilience without pressure and joy without performance. The evidence is clear that girls-only spaces work, and we are proud to be creating them, one Club Quest at a time.
