Did you know that the way we stand can affect the way we feel? The Power Pose is a simple but effective technique that can help your daughter feel stronger, braver and more confident, just by adjusting her body language.

Each week in our club sessions, we introduce a new Confidence Booster technique to help girls build self-assurance and feel empowered. Here’s one to try at home!

Why It Works

Research shows that standing in a confident, open posture for just two minutes can reduce stress hormones and boost feelings of self-assurance. When we stand tall, with our shoulders back and our hands on our hips (think Wonder Woman!), our brain gets the message that we are powerful and capable. This technique is a great way to help your daughter build confidence before big moments like school presentations, tests or even tricky social situations.

Try It at Home

Here’s how you can introduce the Power Pose to your daughter:

  1. Set the scene: Stand together in front of a mirror or in an open space. Explain that our bodies can send messages to our brains about how we feel.

  2. Strike a Pose: Place your feet shoulder-width apart, stand tall and put your hands on your hips. Another option is raising your arms in a victory ‘V’ shape.

  3. Hold for Two Minutes: While holding the pose, take deep breaths and say a confidence-boosting phrase like “I am strong,” “I can do hard things,” or “I’ve got this.”

  4. Reflect: Ask your daughter how she feels. Does she notice a change in her mood or energy?

Make It a Habit

Encourage your daughter to use the Power Pose before moments where she needs a boost. The more she practices, the more natural confidence will feel. Try it together and watch her self-belief grow!
