Volunteering offers teenage girls a unique opportunity to develop essential skills, build confidence and contribute meaningfully to causes they care about. In particular, volunteering in roles that centre around leadership and women’s empowerment can be transformative for young girls as they step into adulthood. These experiences don't just foster a sense of social responsibility, but also help them develop key leadership traits such as communication, empathy and resilience.

At Fearless Girls Club, we offer two specialised roles for young girls eager to make a difference: Quest Leaders and Junior Quest Leaders. These roles enable older girls to mentor younger members and shape their journey toward becoming confident, bold young women.

Building Leadership Skills

Volunteering provides a structured environment where girls can hone leadership skills in real-life situations. Whether it's leading a group activity, organising an event, or offering support to younger girls, the experience cultivates important attributes like decision-making, teamwork and problem-solving.

As Quest Leaders (for older girls, aged 14–18) and Junior Quest Leaders (for girls aged 11–13), volunteers at Fearless Girls Club get the chance to take on significant responsibilities. This includes planning parts of our Confidence Quests (our research-based modules designed to build confidence) and mentoring younger members during sessions. These leadership opportunities not only prepare girls for future roles in education or careers, but also help them feel bold and fearless in the present.

Boosting Confidence and Self-Esteem

A key benefit of volunteering is the boost in confidence that comes from contributing to something meaningful. By helping others, especially in women-empowering environments, young girls begin to see themselves as capable leaders and role models. The positive feedback from peers and the progress they see in those they mentor affirms their abilities, which can be especially helpful during the often-turbulent teenage years.

At Fearless Girls Club, our Quest Leaders and Junior Quest Leaders actively shape the confidence-building journey for younger girls. Leading activities, offering guidance and being a trusted figure in the eyes of younger club members fosters a strong sense of self-belief. Every time they support a younger girl through a personal challenge or lead a Confidence Quest, they’re growing their own resilience and confidence.

Cultivating Empathy and Community Awareness

Volunteering exposes teenagers to different perspectives and challenges, encouraging them to think about issues beyond their immediate circle. This heightened sense of empathy is particularly important when the cause relates to women’s leadership and empowerment. Girls who volunteer in these spaces become more attuned to the challenges that women face in various spheres and develop a deeper commitment to creating positive change.

At Fearless Girls Club, our volunteering roles emphasise not only leadership, but also empathy. Quest Leaders and Junior Quest Leaders form bonds with the younger girls they mentor, creating a supportive environment where everyone can thrive. By working together to build confidence and leadership skills in others, volunteers are contributing to a culture of empowerment and mutual support.

Why Volunteering with Fearless Girls Club is Unique

Fearless Girls Club offers a unique volunteering opportunity for teenage girls, rooted in research and best practices for confidence-building. Our Quest Leaders and Junior Quest Leaders are an essential part of our mission to empower girls to be bold and live fearlessly.
